Lael L. Montgomery was born and raised in Zachary, Louisiana.  His childhood education was within all Zachary Community Schools from primary school to graduating from Zachary High School.  After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy holding a secret clearance as a Tomahawk Technician until being Honorably discharged.  As a veteran, Lael used his Montgomery G.I. Bill to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from Southern University A&M College and University.

Lael is a published author of the book Avenue Blues and has held a career as a Chemical Dependency Counselor; dedicating his life and time to consulting, mentoring and counseling youth as well as adults. He is a member of the Zachary Men’s Club, attends Jubilee Fellowship Church where he actively helps young people obtain ‘life skills’ and acquire a college education.   Lael has volunteered his time in Zachary for over two decades through coaching and various community outreach programs.  He is the father of two children; and has nine siblings, for which he pays homage for the plethora of knowledge he has received from them. 

Lael believes in service before self, and God over everything.  He serves District 5 which includes the Avenues, East End, Anderson Quarters, Shaffett Lane, Pope Road, Little Farms, McHost Road, Mil wood Creek and Lower Zachary Road.
