David Amrhein, 59, is a lifetime resident of Zachary. He was elected Mayor of Zachary in November 2010 and officially took office on Monday, January 10, 2011.  He is presently serving his second term as Mayor of Zachary. Before becoming Mayor, David was part owner of a successful, locally owned family business, Amrhein and Sons Hardware, for over 30 years. He previously served as a Zachary City Council Member for eight years from 1999-2007 and led the Zachary City Council as Mayor Pro-tempore from 2003-2004. He has been a member of the Century Club, Zachary Chamber of Commerce, Zachary High School Hall of Fame Committee and Board Member and Treasurer of Zachary Youth Baseball, where he coached for numerous years.  He was awarded the 2010 Zachary High Baseball Lifetime Achievement Award for "His many years of help and commitment to the Zachary Baseball Program and for his involvement and continued support." In 2014, David was the recipient of the Walter Zeller Fellowship Medal for his efforts in the Zachary community, awarded by the Kiwanis Club. Under his proven leadership, Zachary has been designated 2nd Best City to Raise a Family in Louisiana, Top 5 Best Towns for Young Families in Louisiana, Top 10 Best Towns for Families in the United States, Top 10 Safest Places to Live in Louisiana, 2018 Richest Town in Louisiana by USA Today, and has been awarded “Safest 70” Distinction from LWCC, in addition to the Zachary Youth Park being named a “Field of Excellence.”  David is married to Robyn Boudreaux Amrhein, and they have two children, Blake and Dustin. Dustin and his wife, Laura Kate have two sons, Jackson and Emmitt Amrhein. Mayor Amrhein presently serves on the Firefighters Retirement System Board of Trustees and the East Baton Rouge Parish Communications District Board.

Chris Calbert was appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer in the City of Zachary in January 2014. The Chief Administrative Officer coordinates, under the supervision of Mayor David Amrhein, the activities of all administrative divisions of the City of Zachary.

He has more than 32 years of law enforcement experience in the areas of police administration, explosive incident counter-measures, arson investigation and hazardous materials response at the specialist level. He has held command positions in both the municipal police and sheriff’s systems during his career.

Chris’s areas of expertise created the unique opportunity for him to serve nearly half of his law enforcement career working directly with the fire service.

Before his position at the City of Zachary, he was the Senior Instructor for the Department of Homeland Security’s Counter – Terrorism Training Branch assigned to the “Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings Course” at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico. He had held this position for the past 11 years, until his departure from the program in January of this year.

Chris is a graduate of the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia the National Fire Academy and Emergency Management Institute at Emmitsburg, Maryland, and the LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute in Baton Rouge where he served as a staff instructor for many years in both curriculums.

He has served as a WMD consultant and technical writer for the Department of Justice and the Department of Justice Program’s Division following the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995 and more recently for the Department of Homeland Security following the attacks of 9-11.

A nationally recognized speaker and subject matter expert in the areas of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Explosives and Improvised Explosives, Chris has developed and continues to deliver presentations for emergency first responders at the local, state, federal and international levels.
