Annual Zachary Christmas in the Village and Christmas Light Show
Come kick-off each holiday season by joining Zachary Mayor David Amrhein as he welcomes families to the “Annual Zachary Christmas in the Village” Celebration held on the first Friday in December from 6 – 9 p.m. The annual event takes place in the Zachary Historic District, located on Virginia Street, behind City Hall. The village comes alive with synchronized Christmas light displays, Christmas performances and music, special entertainment for children, a visit from Santa, tours of beautifully decorated historical homes, booths of arts and crafts, and popular gourmet food trucks.
The official lighting of the Christmas light displays begins at 6 p.m., which includes a 28 foot musically animated Christmas tree, adorned with 7,200 LED lights that twinkle and dance to your favorite holiday songs. Millions of white lights trace soaring Victorian trim work on the National Register-listed historic homes, gazebo and barn, transforming the entire village to a winter wonderland. Tours of the beautiful turn of the century historic homes decorated for the holiday are also available. Enjoy a glimpse of the past at the J.W. McHugh General Merchandise Store, a replica of an actual mercantile that once stood in this area in 1911. Christmas performances by local dance troupes, area churches, and school choirs will surely get you into the holiday spirit, providing musical and dance entertainment throughout the night.
Over 25 arts and crafts vendors feature everything from Christmas crafts, woodwork, handmade jewelry, candles, crocheted items, desserts and so much more. We encourage you to come out and visit with Santa while enjoying the entertainment and shopping opportunities that will be offered on this magical night.
Throughout the holiday season in December through January 3rd, visitors are welcome to drive through a magical wonderland in the Zachary Historic District, featuring thousands of blinking and twinkling lights synchronized to Christmas music from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. nightly. Residents are invited to set their radio dials to 105.9 FM for musical entertainment while viewing the light show. Drivers should enter East Central Avenue from Main Street, continue to Virginia Street, then head toward Lee Street to get the best experience.
