In Zachary, we know how to have a good time. Whether it's the annual Chamber of Commerce Sporting Clays Event, Zachary Bed Races, The Gleaux Run, Fall Art Crawl, Christmas In The Village, Zachary Christmas Parade, Code Red Chili Cook-Off, or the numerous year-round youth sports activities at our city-owned Zachary Youth Park, there's something for everyone! The Zachary experience features a high quality of life that is enjoyed by all residents.

Zachary is the first choice for many families and has been named by Family Circle Magazine as one of the ten best towns in the USA for families. We have so much to offer families.

Youth Park 

The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) operates 13 parks in the Zachary area. Notable and unique activities are located at BREC's Zachary Community Park, FLonacher Road Park, and the Plank Road Park. The Zachary Youth Park Complex, located on Mt. Pleasant Road provides facilities for baseball, softball for children, picnic areas, as well as a half-mile walking track.  Zachary received a nationwide Pioneer Athletics Award, “Field of Excellence,” for its youth park complex, which features turfed fields.  The Zachary Youth Park hosts more than 16 tournaments and showcases events yearly. BREC’s Flonacher Road Park

BREC's Flonacher Road Park, a new 175-acre site developed by BREC is located in the northern area of Zachary and includes a soccer complex with restroom facilities, a recreation center, recreation paths, fishing pond, picnic area and shelters, playground, basketball court and a disc golf course. The park also features pristine wooded areas and vast open spaces. Seasonal soccer team programs are offered at this park through the Zachary Area Soccer Association.

Water Sports

Other areas of interest in and around Zachary include Bennett’s Water Ski and Wakeboard School, located on Barnett Road. This school draws water ski and wakeboard students from all over the world to its year-round facility. Bennett’s also hosts regional and national water ski competitions. Tri-Lakes, the home of Bennett’s Water Ski and Wakeboard School plays host to the NCWSA National Collegiate Water Ski Championships.

Parks and Zoo

Port Hudson State Park, located on Highway 61, is the site of an important Civil War siege. Each month there are educational activities and occasional reenactments commemorating the historical battles. Also, on this site is a six-mile walking trail.

The Baton Rouge Zoo, located minutes away in Baker, features year-round animal exhibits and special events for children and adults.

Libraries

The East Baton Rouge Library has a popular branch in Zachary on Church Street, where programs and educational activities are regularly presented. The Zachary branch is a great community resource.

Fitness

Numerous fitness facilities are located in Zachary, such as Jazzercise, martial arts, dance, CrossFit and gymnastics offering many healthy fun initiatives. The YMCA, located in Americana Development features 26,000 square foot fitness center, aerobics room, community meeting room, a six-lane heated pool and spray pad, a tennis pavilion and pro shop and six, lighted, hard tennis courts.
